In 2000 some of our members members thought it would be a great idea to hold
a hillclimb in our area so the search was on for a venue. It did not take
long to realise that Picacho Peak would be ideal. A scenic spot with all the
facilities that such an event could possibly want. And most importantly, a
nice steep hill. But would the State Park authorities look kindly on our ideas?
Many folk thought not but they could not have been more wrong. The Park Manager,
Rob Young, has been very supportive right from the outset and has given us
all the help we need to make the event a success. We plan to hold a hillclimb
at Picacho Peak every year for the forseeable future.
The most important aspect of our event is that it should be a fun day out
with an opportunity to enjoy your old banger in an environment which is not
normally available. It matters not whether you have a stock machine or a performance
beast, Picacho Peak Hillclimb is a venue where you can enjoy your car in your
own way. We do provide accurate timing and a well controlled envionment for
those who are serious about their hillclimbing skills but the real reason
behind the event is for all comers, whether serious or not, to have fun with
their cars in a relaxed atmosphere.
Please come and join us.
